Senior Automation Test Engineer

Role Description
We are looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to join a high-impact team within the banking sector, working on a fund trading platform. In this role, you will own the test automation strategy and execution in a complex, backend-heavy environment, collaborating closely with development, DevOps, and product teams to drive quality and delivery speed.
Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable, reusable test automation frameworks
Build and maintain automated tests across UI, API, and integration layers
Develop automation for functional, regression, and integration testing
Execute manual and exploratory testing where automation is not optimal
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery
Prepare and manage test data, analyze results, and report defects clearly
Automate repetitive workflows to continuously improve testing processes
Collaborate cross-functionally to embed quality across the full development lifecycle

Requirements
Strong experience balancing automation and manual testing
Proficiency in Java 21+
Experience with Spring Boot and Hibernate
Hands-on experience with Selenium or Playwright
Experience with JUnit / TestNG and Cucumber (or similar)
API testing experience using REST Assured or equivalent
Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases
Experience testing event-driven systems (Kafka, JMS, MQ)
Familiarity with OpenAPI / AsyncAPI
Experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
Strong understanding of OOP and design patterns
Experience testing complex distributed backend systems
Ability to design structured manual test cases and conduct exploratory testing
Fluent in English
